Dear honorable delegates and advisors,
I am so pleased to extend you a welcome to MidSouth Model United Nations! Held for thirty-eight years now, MSMUN is a tradition that we look forward to every February. Listening to world-class delegates debate global issues on our small campus gives me so much hope for the future of our world leaders. This year, I hope we can yet again facilitate an environment for each and every one of you to share ideas and feel heard.
Please take note of our website homepage, where I trust everything can be easily found. Committees are organized by type: Specialized or General Assembly (note there is no DPI at MSMUN38). Next, please take note of our registration process. Hearing concerns and helpful criticism from your advisors after the changes implemented for MSMUN 2018, we have redirected student registration from us to your individual advisors and faculty sponsors.
When registering, though, it is important to note that first-year MUN delegates are more than welcome to join any GA committee they choose but are ineligible to participate in Specialized or Crisis Committees. Before beginning registration, please look through this year’s committees to see what interests you, learn more about our chairs, and read through the background guides on which they worked so tirelessly.
We hope to improve our crisis environment even more this year, under the leadership of director Jennifer Weissman and assistant director, Bella Harden. It is our aim to facilitate and simulate real-world experiences for delegates, whether debating current UN Security Council matters or debating in Star Wars: The Clone Wars. For more information about our director and deputy director, or any member of the Secretariat, please visit our Secretariat Page! For more information about the individual committees, feel free to visit their individual pages.
Please see the calendar below for important dates regarding MSMUN38. If you have any questions before the conference, please feel free to reach out to a member of the Secretariat at MSMUN@rhodes.edu. If you are looking for the 2019 MSMUN welcome packet, that can be found at the bottom of this page!
Be sure to follow us on social media for updates and helpful hints regarding our conference. If you post about MSMUN38, make sure to use the hashtag, #MSMUN38.
